Apply for membership

As we state in §2.1 in our by-laws, an eligible person may apply to the Board for membership in the Association, and the person becomes a member on the Board’s acceptance of the application. There is no charge for membership at this time.

Membership is not required to participate in SWNPA events. Membership confers the right to attend all meetings of the members, to cast a vote on all motions and resolutions considered at meetings of members, and to run for the Board of Directors.

Our aim is to advocate on behalf of and to support the needs of people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions (2SLGBTQIA+), and of the people in their lives, to help improve the social, mental, and physical health and well-being of such people within the Tri-Counties (Yarmouth, Digby, and Shelburne Counties) area of southwest Nova Scotia. Our values are education, diversity, inclusivity and community.

Your information will be kept securely by the Secretary and only used in accordance with provincial legislation to maintain a list of members as required by law, to determine eligibility for voting at SWNPA meetings, and to contact you through Mailchimp if you consented to subscribe. Unless you tell us otherwise, we may publicly welcome you on social media by name to membership in the organization. By applying, you consent to be contacted by email and/or phone regarding SWNPA membership and meetings.
