1pm: Pride Parade
Hi friends: As you’re no doubt aware, the Southwest Nova Pride Festival volunteer meeting has taken place. The outcome of which is that we have good news, and bad news.
The good news: we more than doubled our volunteer base for this festival, and the entire board is so very grateful for people offering up their time and efforts to make this festival happen.
The bad news: while we are honored by and value the outpouring of support from our volunteers, community, and allies, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Pride Parade for 2023. Although many people reached out, we were unable to confirm enough volunteers to safely put on the Parade this year. And we value the safety of our participants and attendees above all else.
This isn’t the end, though! We have an entire festival — ten events over seven days! — to connect with each other and celebrate Pride, and we hope to see many of you out there over the course of Pride week. Southwest Nova Pride Association is a growing organisation, and we are better positioned for 2024 to come back stronger than ever — and, hopefully, march together.
2pm: Pride Festival at Coronation Park
