Kick off our 2024 Pride Festival with a Board Game Night! All-ages board game social at Pair-a-Dice Bistro (in the Yarmouth Mall)! Come hang out and relax with (hundreds of) board games and the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community & allies!
$5 per person includes table rental and games, but food and beverages are available, optional, and delicious
We’re back and better than ever! The SWNPA Pride Market is inside & outside Beacon Hall with something for all ages!
We have vendors of all kinds, from artists and crafters to 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy, support, and community organizations. We have food — sweet, savory, cute, crunchy — and of course, a bouncy climb & slide for the kids!
All-ages, admission is free. Event is wheelchair/mobility aid-accessible, with a quiet room.
SWNPA Pride 2024 Keynote Speaker Prof. Kate Krug, Chair of the Department of L’nu, Political, and Social Studies at Cape Breton University, is speaking on Canadian Queer history, including stories from her book, Under the Rainbow: A Primer on Queer Issues in Canada.
She has been a Queer activist since she came out as a lesbian in 1983, and this informs her approach to teaching which she sees as a performative, political, and transformative act that can provide the foundation for equity and social justice in the worlds we live in.
Prof. Krug is an engaging storyteller, accomplished academic, and has the activist bona fides to make this an unmissable event!
